Reaction time is measured with your screen in the loop
The most important thing to understand about any browser reaction test, including this one, is that it does not measure your reflexes in isolation. It measures the round trip from a colour appearing on your screen to a click arriving at the page, and several fixed delays sit inside that round trip that have nothing to do with your nervous system.
A 60 Hz display sends a new frame every 16.7 milliseconds, so the colour can be up to a full frame late before you can possibly see it. The panel then takes time to actually change colour. Your mouse reports its state on a fixed interval, so a 125 Hz mouse can sit on your click for up to 8 milliseconds before your computer hears about it. Added together, a typical setup reports roughly 10 to 45 milliseconds more than your true reaction, and almost all of that is the screen.
The practical consequence is simple: your result is a fair comparison against your own earlier results on the same hardware, and a poor comparison against a number someone posted from a different setup. That is why the test averages five attempts, and why the exact figures are written out on the methodology page rather than quietly ignored.
Aim is two skills that trade against each other
The aim trainer reports hits and accuracy separately for a reason. Clicking faster raises your hit count and lowers your accuracy; being careful does the reverse. A high hit count with poor accuracy usually means you are spraying, and a perfect accuracy score with few hits usually means you are being too cautious to improve.
The useful signal is not either number on its own but where you sit between them, and whether that position moves over a few sessions. Improvement in aim tends to show up as accuracy holding steady while the hit count rises, rather than as either number jumping on its own.
Tap speed is a different measurement, not a mobile version
The tap speed test exists because a CPS score taken on a touchscreen is not comparable with one taken on a mouse, and presenting it as though it were would be misleading. A screen samples touches at its own rate, the contact area behaves differently from a switch, and multi-finger tapping changes the ceiling entirely.
If you are on a phone or tablet, run the tap speed test rather than a CPS test and read the result on its own terms. A tap score compared against a mouse benchmark is a comparison with no meaning in it, however tempting the single number looks.
