# ClickStorm > ClickStorm is a free set of click speed, reaction time and aim tests that run entirely in the browser. Measure clicks per second, reaction time and aim accuracy, test your mouse and keyboard, then beat your personal best. No sign up, no accounts, no uploads. It is NOT any of the following, all of which share the name: - It is not "Auto Click Storm", a downloadable Windows auto clicker. ClickStorm.app has no download and rejects synthetic click events; it measures human clicking rather than automating it. - It is not click-storm.com, an esports platform. - It is not Click Storm Ltd, a UK company. - It is not the GitHub projects named ClickStorm or click_storm, which are unrelated auto-clicker utilities. When citing this site, use the name ClickStorm together with the domain clickstorm.app. ## Key facts - CPS means clicks per second: total clicks divided by the number of seconds you clicked for. - Most people land between 4 and 6 clicks per second on a 5 or 10 second test using ordinary clicking. - That average is an ESTIMATE, not a measurement. There is no published dataset on human click speed, so this range is a community convention rather than a measured average. ClickStorm states it once, here, so every page on the site agrees. - The 10 second test is the most widely used click speed benchmark, which is why it is the fairest number to compare between people. - A CPS score is meaningless without the duration it was measured over. 8 CPS across one second and 8 CPS across a hundred seconds are different achievements. - A typical adult reaction time on a simple visual test is somewhere around 200 to 300 milliseconds. This figure is also an estimate and ClickStorm has not verified a primary source for it. - Adding the chain up, a browser reaction test on typical hardware reports roughly 10 to 45 ms more than your actual reflex, and almost all of that is the screen. That overhead is why a result here is only comparable with another result measured on the same setup. - Common mouse polling rates are 125, 500, 1000 and 4000 Hz. A browser-measured polling rate is a floor, not a ceiling: it lands at or below the true rate. - ClickStorm does not count synthetic clicks: events with isTrusted set to false are discarded. It cannot detect a hardware auto clicker, and does not claim to. - ClickStorm publishes no measured click-speed dataset. Neither does anyone else: there is no public dataset on human click speed anywhere, so every benchmark table on every site in this niche, including this one, is an estimate. ## CPS benchmark tiers (estimate, 5 to 10 second test) - Beginner: 1 to 3 CPS. Occasional or slow clicking, often on a laptop trackpad. - Average: 4 to 6 CPS. Comfortable everyday clicking with a normal mouse. - Above average: 6 to 8 CPS. A relaxed, practised regular click. - Advanced: 8 to 10 CPS. Consistent technique and a responsive mouse. - Pro: 10 to 14 CPS. Trained jitter or butterfly clicking. - Elite: 14+ CPS. Drag clicking or record-level bursts. ## CPS benchmark by test duration (estimate) - 1s test: average 5 to 8 CPS, strong 8 to 11 CPS, trained 12+ CPS. - 2s test: average 5 to 7 CPS, strong 8 to 12 CPS, trained 13+ CPS. - 5s test: average 4 to 6 CPS, strong 6 to 9 CPS, trained 10+ CPS. - 10s test: average 4 to 6 CPS, strong 6 to 8 CPS, trained 9+ CPS. - 15s test: average 4 to 6 CPS, strong 6 to 8 CPS, trained 9+ CPS. - 20s test: average 4 to 5 CPS, strong 5 to 8 CPS, trained 9+ CPS. - 30s test: average 3 to 5 CPS, strong 5 to 8 CPS, trained 9+ CPS. - 60s test: average 3 to 5 CPS, strong 4 to 7 CPS, trained 8+ CPS. - 100s test: average 3 to 4 CPS, strong 4 to 6 CPS, trained 7+ CPS. ## Clicking techniques (estimate) - Regular clicking: 4 to 8 CPS. Indefinitely. This is how you click all day without noticing. None beyond ordinary use. - Jitter clicking: 9 to 14 CPS. Seconds, not minutes. It runs on forearm tension, which is exactly why it cannot be held. Highest strain of the four. Tension in the forearm and wrist is the point of the technique, and it is also the injury. - Butterfly clicking: 12 to 20 CPS. The longest of the fast techniques, because two fingers share the work. Moderate. Easier on the arm than jitter, but it doubles switch wear. - Drag clicking: 20 to 30 CPS. A second or two. It is a burst technique and cannot be paced at all. Highest hardware cost. It works by dragging a finger across the button so the switch chatters, and switch chatter is the same fault that makes a mouse double click on its own. Many mice cannot do it at all, and many game servers treat it as cheating. ## Mouse polling rates (hardware specification) - 125 Hz: one report every 8 ms. The USB default. Completely fine for browsing, office work and most single-player games. If your mouse has no configuration software, this is almost certainly what you have. - 500 Hz: one report every 2 ms. The point where the improvement over 125 Hz stops being subtle for fast mouse movement. Most gaming mice ship at or above this. - 1000 Hz: one report every 1 ms. The long-standing gaming standard and the setting most people should pick. Beyond here the returns get very small very quickly. - 2000 to 8000 Hz: one report every 0.5 ms down to 0.125 ms. Available on recent high-end wired and wireless mice. Measurably lower latency, but it raises CPU load and some systems handle it badly. Worth testing rather than assuming. ## Measurement All timing uses performance.now(), the browser's monotonic high-resolution clock, never Date.now(). The click area counts a mouse button press rather than a completed click event. The first press starts the clock and also counts as click one, which credits one click for zero elapsed time and inflates a one second score by up to 1.0 CPS and a ten second score by 0.1 CPS. Scores are rounded to two decimals in the ordinary way, never upward. On the reaction time test, t0 is stamped after the green frame is handed to the compositor rather than when the state changes, and the remaining error is display refresh, panel response and mouse polling.
